Casting or Remote control of audio from Lagu (Android)

Wanted to start by saying great work on this app. I'm super excited to have this as an option to Plexamp, Symfonium, and NostalgicPod going forward. From what I've seen so far I'm sure this will become my daily driver 🙂

I'm trying to cast or use Lagu from my phone or tablet as a remote control similar to how I do in PlexAmp.

As an example: I play music on or cast to

A few headless players running Linux (Plexamp & Caldrea) connected to Denon AVR's
Windows, Bluetooth devices with Plexamp
Plexamp on an android tv
Android Auto in multiple vehicles

My process would be to start by selecting a playlist, song, or radio station on one of my android devices in Lagu, start it and then select the cast icon or remote device and select my player from the list .

I may not have found it yet in the Lagu menus yet, all I have found so far is the ability to create and play to a Lagu computer or Apple TV. I don't have an Apple TV, mine is multiple android TV's and I'm not on the Windows beta yet so I can't test that one out. Note that most Android users will want to have the ability to stream to Android Auto when in the car and cast to / remote control other devices as noted above.

Lagu version: 0.13.3
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 w/ android version 17 and One UI version 9.0
Galaxy Tab S11 w/ android version 16 and One UI version 8.5
Caldera version v1.0.47 running headless on both a windows 11 and Linux server connected to Denon AVR's via HDMI and Optical
Plex is running on a DXP 8800 Plus UGreen NAS Server with 64gb ram and M@ memory running the docker containers and cache

huffjf Hello! Thanks for the question and for trying out Lagu I really appreciate it!

Lagu Remote is only compatible with other Lagu clients, it does not operate using Plex's own remote functionality, instead it uses our own protocol, so it currently cannot drive Plexamp or Caldera. With that said, the next release (0.14.0) will include the first build for Android Auto and Android TV.

I do want to be up front in terms of your current headless clients, I am not certain that Lagu will end up supporting Plex's built-in remote functionality but I will look into it. The more likely outcome will be that Lagu would get its own headless client. If that does interest you, do feel free to open a feature request or reach out here as I would love to hear what features you find most important or possibly features you wish were implemented in a headless client!

Adam Understood, I'd actually prefer a Lagu headless client as it would keep everything streamlined. I'll pull my thoughts together and respond in a feature request.
